The public is invited to a free concert in the Hall of Liberty – Hollywood Forest Lawn to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and the 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery.

A Pre-Concert lecture at 5:00 pm features a screening & discussion of the award-winning documentary “Fight for Freedom” detailing the formation of the United States Colored Troops and their role in the abolishment of slavery.

The 6:00 pm concert features performances by the Air National Guard Band of the West Coast’s Brass Quintet, the MusicUNTOLD Orchestra & Chorale, baritones Michael Paul Smith and Babatunde Akinboboye, clarinetist Marcus Eley, pianist Mary Au, soprano Sheila Yvette Judson, pianist Polli Chambers-Salazar, and violinist Annelle Gregory in works by Duke Ellington, Roy Harris, William Grant Still,  plus Traditional Spirituals and more. KUSC on-air personality Dennis Bartel is the host.
