Many women are attracted to vintage clothing for its fine detail and timeless beauty. It harkens back to a (perceived) more glamorous time. Yet vintage enthusiasts may be unaware that they are actually drawn to fashions from 1910 through 1957 because they celebrate the female form. These designs were created to accentuate a woman’s best assets, unlike modern fashions which favor comfort over design and design over flattering silhouettes.

However, as everyone discovers who collects and wears clothing from the first half of the last Century, finding garments that fit or are functional for the active modern woman can be a challenge. Annamarie von Firley, the Owner/Designer of reVamp and creator of fine reproduction vintage clothing, is here to tell you that you can have your cake and eat it too! Ms. von Firley will discuss the history of fashion design and explain how to adapt these timeless silhouettes for the modern and more active body.

Tickets: $10 Textile Arts Council; $15 PMH Members; $20 General.  Tickets include entrance to the Exhibition Galleries starting at 6:00 pm and a wine and cheese reception. Advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended, http://adaptingvintagestyle.bpt.me. Tickets may be available at the door for an additional $5 charge.

If you are a Gold Needle Textile Arts Council member, and you would like to use one or both of your complementary lecture tickets, please email mturner@pasadenahistory.org.
